Von Missernte zum Erfolg – Kakaoanbau in Ghana - deNatura

From Crop Failure to Success – Cocoa Cultivation in Ghana

Last year, farmer Wania from Ghana faced a difficult time: his cocoa plants bore hardly any fruit, and the harvest almost completely failed. This meant he not only lacked the beans for export but also the means to feed his family.

This year, everything looks different. Thanks to the use of Karrikin, our natural plant aid completely without chemicals, the cocoa plants were able to grow vigorously and bear abundant fruit. In his case, only two black pods were found on his plantation; the rest of the fruits were healthy. The harvest is bountiful – enough to provide for his family and bring his cocoa beans to market.

The experiences of cocoa farmers in Ghana impressively show how big the difference can be when sustainable solutions are used. Initially, many farmers were skeptical and difficult to convince. But after trying our natural plant aid Karrikin, they are thrilled: the cocoa plants are healthier, the number of diseased pods has drastically decreased, and yields are significantly higher than in previous years.

Some farmers even report that their entire plantations seem transformed. Based on this conviction, they are now actively recommending Karrikin to their colleagues. More and more farmers are joining in and want to use it – not only in their region but also in neighboring areas.

Farmer Wania is, as he himself said: "more than happy". He can now smile again and looks forward to a positive future.

And what exactly is Karrikin?
